Fairtrade certified producers

As of this year 2023, we are proud to announce that we have become a Fairtrade certified Independent Producers at Aarong. This is a significant milestone for us, and we are excited to share this news with our valued customers and supporters.

Why Aarong?

Aarong brand began in 1978 as a humble means to empower rural artisans to rise above poverty. Today, Aarong is the most popular lifestyle retailer chain, which has 28 stores across Bangladesh. Aarong is the retail wing of BRAC, the largest non-governmental organisation in the world. Aarong’s profits are directed back into BRAC to support all the good work that BRAC continues to provide for the most vulnerable groups across the world. Aarong is also a member of the World Fair Trade Organisation. When you purchase a product from Aarong, you can be confident that it has been produced with care, skill, and respect for the environment.

What does it mean to be an Independent Producer?

Being an Independent Producer demonstartes that we have taken a step towards self-sufficiency and empowerment. It means we have gained the skills, knowledge, and resources to design and produce our products independently, without relying on external suppliers or manufacturers.

Aarong has always been committed to supporting local artisans and craftsmen. By becoming Independent Producers, we are following this mission by empowering our artisans to have greater control over their work, income, and future.

Why is this important?

Becoming an Independent Producer is important for several reasons. Firstly, it allows us to maintain the highest quality standards for our products. By producing our goods in-house, we have complete control over the entire production process, from designing the piece, to sourcing raw materials and the final product.

Secondly, being Independent Producers enables us to have a direct impact on the livelihoods of our artisans. Working directly with our artisans, we can ensure they receive fair wages and have decent working conditions.

What does it mean for our customers?

This transition will enable us to transport our products handmade by our artisans in Bangladesh and offer them to UK customers.

By buying from Dottypix, you will be helping to create sustainable livelihoods and support ethical practices.
